Crops & Planting
For each Stasis Device, you will need a Circuit Board and a Living Glass.
These 2 crafted items are entirely made from crops.

Circuit Board

Living Glass
The crops required to make one Circuit Board are 100 Frost Crystal, 200 Solanium, 100 Cactus Flesh and 200 Star Bulb.
The crops required to make one Living Glass are 50 Faecium, 400 Gamma Root and 200 Frost Crystal.
The amount of each resource you get from each crop differs on your setup, we’ll be focusing on the maximum harvestable amount for this and I’ll explain how you can achieve that maximum for every crop harvesting shortly.
With the maximum harvestable amount in mind, each Circuit Board requires 1.1 Frostwort plants, 2.3 Solar Vine, 0.6 Echinocactus and 4.5 Star Bramble, with Living Glass needing 1.1 Gutrot Flower, 4.6 Gamma Weed and 2.3 Frostwort.
For the 64 Stasis Device Farm we are building here that translates to 35 Domes filled with 74 Frostwort, 148 Solar Vine, 37 Echinocactus and 291 Star Bramble.
The 35th dome only has 5 plants in it.
That’s for the Circuit Boards, for the Living Glass it is a further 32 Domes with 73 Gutrot Flower, 295 Gamma Weed and 148 Frostwort, technically, it is 33 domes, but the 33rd would only have a single plant in it, so I would recommend either a Hydroponic Tray, which you have on your route or glitched into a dome, or you do what I did and whack it in a previously filled plot.
For Normal difficulty, the order you plant these in doesn’t matter at all as they take up less space in resource form than crafted, but for Survival and Permadeath, this is not the case for all but glass.
So the order in which you plant them is a big deal for inventory management.
I’m sorting a tool that will display the most efficient possible harvesting order for these crops to be able to craft as you go for those with more limited inventory space.
You should note that the order is per dome as we will be harvesting full domes at a time.
Here is a list of the required building materials for all domes, doors and crops, this is assuming 1 door per dome and doubled up domes, so consider that, as with many other things, a tool for working-out building and crafting materials is in the works.
(Please not that the above graphic should read 222 Frostwort plants not 74)

I would just like to point out one error I noticed- it’s more of an oversight really. In the combined total, you only listed the 74 frostwort in the chart, when the total you mentioned in text is 74 frostwort for the circuit boards, and then another 148 for the living glass. I stubbed my toe on this issue as I built up the 3 planet setup in one system, waited a day, then did a test run to make sure it would work. I got everything else crafted/refined, and this was the last step for me. (glass > living glass > cryo chamber > stasis device). I quickly realized I didn’t have the frost crystals for it, and after double checking the farm, realized that I had planted the right amount shown in the graphic, but not in the text. Otherwise this is a phenomenal piece of work!
After returning to the game, I noticed that I can no longer plant in the Bio-Domes where the walkway connects. Can you add a visual configuration to this page of the best connector configuration for the Bio-Domes? I am finding this guide to be easier for me to get organized with the than the video. The video is great, it is just a lot easier to navigate back and fourth here.
Thanks for all the hard work, btw! Great content!
I had a similar issue but it’s quite simple to resolve so you still get the max out of the dome.
Build the dome and the interconnecting walkway. Enter the dome. Delete the walkway. Plant in all available slots. Reconnect the walkway.
This way you don’t loose the 3 growing slots covered by the walkway.
Hope this helps.
They must have fixed it. Can’t plant after deleting walkway. This guide has so many issues. Sucks someone wasted a bunch of time just to make a bunch of ither people waste their time. How many bio domes do we actually need?
I just completed by 128 stasis farm build. The guide is still applicable as of 3/27/2021
Why use frost crystals in this recipe for living glass when you can use silicate powder?
You can passively farm the frost crystals. The silicate powder you’d have to go out and get each time. The point of the farm is to have everything on hand.
Silicate powder is extremely inefficient if you’re trying to make glass it takes so much more of that vs Frost Crystals too, on top of constantly recharging the terrain manipulation tool.
Can you revise this guide please? Inaccurate and inconsistent numbers all over the place. Bio domes can only hold 13 plants per, the new update might have fixed so you can’t delete walkways and plant more. Sucks reading this guide and following it just to have to redo everything n do a bunch of research to figure out how to make it work. Make a guide without cutting corners. Problems happen when you try to cut corners. You’d know that if you ever worked a day in your life. Literally wasted a week of doing stuff just so it can be wrong because of you. Thanks.
You can plant from outside the dome with no walkways or doors in it and get a full 16 plants in there. Then build your walkways and/or doors. I’ve been working on for last couple days.. no issues.
Did you watch the video? He explains how in that…
hope this helps
First of all I want to say this is fantastic work and I’m thoroughly enjoying building these farms! Thank you!
So maybe this is an oversight but I’ve done the math over and over for the Living Glass crops and I come up with 4 plants leftover in the 33rd dome. 73 gut rot + 295 gamma weed + 148 frost wort = 516. So 516 divided by 16 = 32.25 domes. Hence 4 plants in the final dome. Correct me if I’m wrong…
Again, nice work and thank you for all the hard work and time put into this. I’m sure it was quite the undertaking. BUT that being said, I have to agree with Avery, in many calculations over and over, double checking myself and the numbers needed for the Circuit Boards and the Living Glass and the number that each plant yields, I have found that your numbers are way off for the number of crops needed.
So for the Frost Crystal you need 100 for each Circuit Board, that’s 2 plants, so 2 plants x64 = 128 Frostwort, for 200 Solanium, that’s 4 plants x64 = 256 Solar Vine, for 100 Cactus Flesh, that’s 1 plant x64 = 64 Echinocactus, for 200 Star Bulb, that’s 8 plants x64 = 512 Star Bramble! So 960 plants total divided by 16 per dome = 60 domes! Just for Circuit Boards…
For the Living Glass, 200 Frost Crystal = 4 plants x64 = 256 Frostwort, 400 Gamma Root = 8 plants x64 = 512 Gamma Weed and 50 Faecium = 2 plants x 64 = 128 Gutrot. That’s 896 plants divided by 16 per dome = 56 domes for Living Glass! So 116 domes total! Guess I better get to work on almost doubling all the work I just did!
Is this accounting for the 50% “Optical Drill” yield bonus on the multitool?
Yes, it based on perfect layout for the optical drill, the layout is covered in a separate section “Optimising your Multitool”
So do you need 67 domes or 116 domes? Appreciate all the work you put into these guides!
Does this mean you need 67 domes or 116 domes in the farm? Just looking for clarification. Thank you for the guides and all the work that went into them!
To clarify, does that mean with the multi-tool set up, we need 67 domes or 116 domes? Thank you for all the time and work you put into these guides!
Hi David,
You also need to factor in growth times. Solar Vine and Echinocactus are 16 hours duration. So you harvest the others every hour for frostwort or 4hrs for the Star, Gutrot and Gamma while waiting the 16hrs. How often is up to you, but you need to plant quantities to reflect your harvest time so if every 8 hours you need twice the number of the 4 hours and 8 times the 1hr to make quota. Alternatively you can have 2 farms of the 16hr plants, offset 8hrs apart so you harvest a full 64 build yield every 8hrs. Sound like a full time job. All quantities based for standard yields.
Hey Xaine, what a masterpiece of a guide! I can’t imagine how much time you had to invest into this, graphics and videos. Ignore whiners above and keep up the great work. Thanks for saving tons of my time doing research everywhere. With best regards, your fellow traveller, Corry
Nice guide. Also, for those who don’t have all the materials up front I would suggest starting your farm with Frost Crystals. Since you are going to need a lot of glass for all the biodomes this will speed up the process, especially since they fully grow in an hour so you never have to wait long to have additional materials for glass, freeing up your silicone for other building parts. This is helpful when you build your walkways/base with concrete.
Any chance you could add an update that discusses setting this up with an infinity dome?
Hi Xaine,
Awesome guide! Thanks. When I watched the video I thought I will never do this. But the printed guide convinced me otherwise. The numbers add up perfectly with the multitool configuration you suggested.
So, I just finished building this setup last weekend and the crops numbers were way off. I could build only 37 stasis devices.
I don’t know if I did something wrong (I double checked everything, so, I don’t think that this is the case) or the crop yeld got nerfed. The amount needed for the components are the same as told here, so, this is not the problem.
Today I had some time to run the numbers, and got the following
Star Bulb – 25 yeld/plant
Solanium – 50 yeld/plant
Cactus – 100 yeld/plant
Crystal – 50 yeld/plant
Gamma Weed – 50 yeld/plant
Faecium – 25 yeld/plant
With that numbers, it’s needed
For the circuit board:
60 domes with 128 crystals, 256 solar vine, 64 cactus and 512 star bulb
For the living glass
56 domes with 128 faecium plants, 512 gamma weed and 256 crystals.
Thanks, i was wondering why i only craft half of what is mention when i copy all items needed in the image lol Now need to update my stasis farm base *sigh*
Quick tip for anyone that is playing on console! When building this you do not need to make as many bio-domes as long as you’re ok with doing some simple and easy glitch building. On console you can use wire glitching as it is much easier to do while on console with the timing and buttons being much much more relaxed and easy. It is technically possible to fit all of the crops into one bio dome so you can save on a whole ton of frost crystal and time of running through the farm collecting crops so that you can collect all the crops with on button press.
Mini tutorial:
To start simply place electrical wires at each place that crops would usually snap to. After doing so choose the crop you wish to place in that location and then click Y on Xbox or triangle on PlayStation, this will switch you to wiring mode you can see the controls on the top of your screen where it will say “toggle wiring”. then look at on of the spots that you placed wiring at that the wire will snap to and then click the toggle wiring button and the place button at almost the same time with very little time in between with the toggle wiring being clicked first. You can place as many crops as you wish to in each slot. You can also do multiple crops in the same spot which can actually making some cool looking hybrid crops
Troubleshooting:
if it is not working check to make sure that the wiring isn’t following your cursor so to check this just look up a tiny bit and if you can see a wire following your cursor simply cancel the placing by clicking b on Xbox or circle on PlayStation.
all crops placed will be harvested at the same time by using the monitor in the top center of the bio dome. Also when placing using the wiring glitch it is not limited to placing on places that wiring can snap to so you can place almost anything in the game anywhere with in your base at many different angles using this glitch.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Also quick note this is currently working and I doubt it will be patched for a long time as it has been in the game for a few years.
Also to make sure you don’t have issues with the doorway although you could still place all of the crops in a single spot if you wanted to but if you try and use all 16 spots you can use a short range teleporter to get into the bio dome.
I love the guide, I’ve been following it to build my own Stasis Farm and it’s been progressing nicely. Thank you for putting it together.
However, I think there should be a prominent note somewhere on this page that the number of plants is innacurate because of the Optical Drill fix that came with Waypoint. It no longer yields bonus crops, and unless someone is familiar with patch notes and game updates, they won’t know this until it’s probably too late (possibly like me) and have to rebuild their farm.
Still works as listed as long as ALL instructions are followed.
