Base Upload Limitations
Bases are far more limited when uploading for others to see than they are for just you.
You can have as many bases as you want on a single planet, but you can only upload one of them, any others on the same planet that you upload will overwrite the former.
This also counts for bases you have on that same planet on different saves.
It is not one per planet per save, but 1 per planet per player.
To upload a second base on the same planet and have them be visible by other players, you must upload the second on a different account.
This works for different PSNs as well as different steam accounts.
This is the primary reason that the UAS will have 2 Stasis Device Systems so that one player can upload over multiple difficulties.
Further to this, there are protections set up in game regarding portals.
You may build a portal base and have it fully encapsulate the portal, but this will not be visible by other players no matter how many times you upload it.
It is thought that the proximity limit to a portal for a stable base upload is 525u, meaning your Base Computer must be further than this away from the portal to guarantee it’s stable and consistent visibility to other players.
The UAS first capital tower ‘New Cardiff’ on Londinium is a sketchy upload if there ever was one, it is a fair bit closer than the known limit to the portal and has been uploaded many times, and to this day is reported to be visible to about half of the people who visit.
Other bases that have been used to test these boundaries have had the base computer far enough away but then extended to the portal to display light or wire messages to visitors.
In these cases, the wire and lights are quite visible, but the walls and larger physical items appear to be filtered out to prevent griefing.
It is important to be aware of this and free yourself from the hassle by generally not building near portals for bases you intend to upload.
This isn’t Atlas Rises, we now have our ships with us when we portal travel, the other side of the planet is no longer an inconvenience.
Lastly for limitations is the base part quantity upload limit.
Thank you to Darklord Xelrick for this, and many other things, but it appears to be 3000 items per base.
Anything after 3000 will either not upload, or upload incomplete.
In case you are concerned about this limit, 3000 items are more than big enough to blue screen a PS4, it’s an insane farm size, so don’t worry about it, just be aware of its existence

I got that about 1 base per planet per player, which can be uploaded and will be so visible to players that are not in your actual game session, but what is about the different difficulty modes? Is it one base per mode or 1 base over all modes?
its 1 per planet per player over all modes, essentially 1 per planet per account
What if you have multiple saves in say Normal mode. Will only one of these (last uploaded) be visible to others?
Just seen the answer above… One per player, not one per save…
I keep getting “Construction Limit Reached” – i only have 27 bases. I now cannot even place a save beacon on any new planet for this limitation !
I now have to “decommission” my bases if i want to build anything now. This really sucks ! Any way around this ?
(Oh i have a base on PS4 that exceeded 3000 items – seemed ok) (lots of bio-domes making money).
3000+ is no issue…. But you’re not able to upload it. So friends can’t come and visit (they will see a half done base)
Tried to recreate the Valley of the dark lords of the sith on Korriban but was only able to build the sith academy and half a temple /-(
OK so i have PSVR and it really rocks in PS4 PRO ! NMS is one of the best for VR at moment – BUT BUT HG still have not addressed the fact of the Galaxy Map – cannot be used in VR !!! aghhh I wish HG would update the Galaxy Map so it can be “spun” around and distant systems be able to be selected in VR mode !
Thank you! I FINALLY know what happened to all my bases that I had marked places. Now I have two questions. Forgive me if I didn’t understand and am being repetitive. Count it to the fact that I am a very old lady playing a game lol.
1) Is it possible for another player to make a base anywhere at all on my home base planet? For the purposes of ease of playing that is?
2) Is there any way to mark and name a location on my planet that will save? Like if I found a wonderful outpost, crashed ship, resource, etc?
Thank you in advance. Bless your heart for this. <3
This is a little bit off topic, but searching the internet I can not find an answer to a question. When using a teleporter and selecting the “other bases” filter I can only teleport to a selected player base that is in the current system. To circumvent the problem I have to teleport to the selected player base’s space station or build my own base in that system. Is that the way it’s always been or is it a bug? I’m over 1000 hours into gameplay and to be truthful I never had a reason to use that teleporter filter until the last month or so.
This is a great website full of useful tips and resources. Enjoy your videos as well. Thanks!
Man that sucks. I hope that improves and base uploading in general. It is terrible right now for other players. I create bases as art. But I guess I enjoy creating them so if I make a video of them it is all good
This information is either out of date or sadly not true from the outset. You can most certainly upload more than one base on a planet as I’ve personally seen it done with a friend and confirmed the visuals.
